The Safety of your Youtube Accounts Empty The Safety of your Youtube Accounts

Post  Guest Wed Oct 19, 2011 2:56 am

Alright, this is Tyson here to tell you all about the safety of your youtube accounts. Some of you may know, and some of you may not know, but my account has been recently suspended/terminated by Youtube. It was my third strike, and now Im worrying over the safety of the accounts of everyone else.

Apparently, all of my strikes came from nearly the same source: "Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc." This music department (i guess we'll call it that) has been copyrighting many music, and I think i should be warning you all of the possible anime's/soundtracks they look for.

The first vid I was given a strike on was by, WHAT DO YOU KNOW?! SONY!!!
Yes, they striked the song "U Can Do It" by Domino. *Also known as Naruto Ending 15*
As far as I know, Naruto soundtracks aren't an issue yet, but the anime music (mostly endings, for some odd reason) are targets of Sony.
This leads me to believe that we should be careful with endings in general, considering Sony monitors more than just the anime of Naruto.

The second vid I was given a strike on was on an old video of my old series of PTMC. I have reason to believe that I was given the strike for having used a Bleach Opening/ost.
"D-Technolife" was the opening, and from what I know, Bleach is another common target from Sony.

Thus, I want you all to please be careful in using these soundtracks if you DO want to use them anyways.

The third vid I was given a strike on was on my "PTMC Ep.19."

Here's where the problem lies: I'm not sure what ost they targeted.

I do however, know the list of soundtracks I used:
YGO 5D's Sound Duel-13 Old
Naruto Ending 12- For You
KHR- Into Sorrow
KHR- In Operation
KH: BBS- Ven's Theme
Kingdom Hearts- Treasured Memories

***For those who don't know: YGO= Yugioh. KHR= Katekyo Hitman Reborn. KH= Kingdom Hearts***

Now, I've narrowed the possible targeted soundtracks to 3 general ones.

I believe Sony might have targeted YGO, or KHR, or Naruto.

Kingdom Hearts Soundtracks are commonly used, so I doubt that they were what was copyrighted.

It's possible that Naruto was targeted, but for some reason, my thoughts lie more on KHR, and YGO.
From what I know, YGO 5D Soundtracks are targeted a lot on the users who upload the ost's to youtube, and KHR is another common target as well.

Therefore; I've reduced the threat to either YGO/KHR.

So I'm asking you all to please be careful in using these soundtracks if you plan to.

On a side note:

Answering Questions-
Q: I thought that if we included the copyright 107 in our description we'd be safe?
A: Wrong. Apparently, that was just something we BELIEVED to be true. I included that description in my "PTMC Ep.19" and it proved to be useless.

Q: How will we know if a certain soundtrack we have will be copyrighted?
A: You don't. You can only suspect it is by viewing if that song is usually copyrighted on other youtube users, and etc.

Q: What can we do to prevent copyright?
A: You can't really prevent it, unless you make everything you do original(including music [which is the primary target]). What I can advise is that you use video game music, because that is almost never copyrighted and is usually a safe alternative to anime soundtracks.

Q: What if I want to continue using anime soundtracks?
A: I want to continue using it too, but there's many risks involved with using them.
If you want to, that's fine. Just be aware of what might happen, and try to use tracks that you are certain or have a feeling won't be copyrighted.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really hope you all heed this warning. I don't want what happened to me to happen to my other friends, and fellow youtubers. Please try to think of all of this or else your account might be "terminated" next.

Thanks for reading, and be safe out there in youtube Smile

This is going to be really helpful, and it's a shame that your account was taken down. D:

Also, maybe we should move away from the more popular anime for soundtracks?

For example, I noticed mainly well-known anime like Naruto, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, YGO, Bleach, One Piece, and a few others are the main soundtracks being "hit." I also feel Fairy Tail will be in the same category as them.

But, what if we use anime not as well known? I mean, since there are less videos of them, they won't be as likely to be hit. IDK, I have to rethink my logic behind it. XD

I do recommend doing this: Try finding downloadable versions of the CDs from which the OSTs are found. One of the main Bleach OST accounts uses nothing but the CDs, and it hasn't been taken down yet.

Also, I approve of the video game part.

And my final post... do you have a new YT account up?

I would also recommend not using scenes from tv shows or movies, or songs with english lyrics, I received a strike from making a video with a scene from a movie, and I've been copyrighted for using songs with english lyrics.

@ Ty, my new account is: PokemonTysonLegend.

And yeah i agree at the popular animes. It really depends on what soundtracks you use too. I know for sure that FT would be "hit" right away. Seriously, that thing is targeted so often that its hard finding full ost's sometimes.

And i also agree with Dako, we have to stray from those type of scenes.

YGO is DEFINETLY not targeted by Sony and neither is KH.. so Sony is targeting Naruto and Bleach? Especially D-Technolife which has been pretty much used in every hack since the beginning of time.. This is just weird D: I'd reccomend staying away from those two OSTs to anyone just because of Sony (Don't forget KH too Very Happy). Although it seems the company that owns YGO 5D's (forgot the name) also is targeting some videos. From what I know so far, some of my videos were muted due to having 5D's ost ._.

I'm starting to move away from Naruto for now because it's way to overused. I'm switching over to Fairy Tail, KHR, and DBZ. The problem is that almost all KHR openings were copywrited. Luckly, I have yet to see an OST be copywrited. DBZ seems fairly safe and so does Fairy Tail. But, to over some copywrites, would it help if you remixed some things in the songs? Maybe move around the versus or add some other OSTs on to lengthen it? Maybe change dynamics (volume) throughout the song? Just some friendly suggestions.
