What changes do you guys want to see?

Since activity is at a low, this can be a blessing in disguise of sorts. What I mean is, this gives us the opportunity to spruce up the forums for when people return or join for the first time.

However, while I may be an Admin, I'd like to know, what would the rest of you guys like to see changed/implemented?

While this type of forum does have limitations, there are surely some things we can do to spruce it up.

Also, no troll suggestions. We want to benefit the forum, not hurt it.

The reason I'm double posting is because I myself have a suggestion (or, well, a few) that refer to the PHCBRs.

- Points system: I've seen this implemented on another forum that uses this same forum provider, so it can be done. With this system, members may gain points for every PHCBR they win. Now they won't lose any if they lose, for that would be stupid. They can exchange them for goodies in the marketplace (which I'll get to later). However, not to discriminate people that don't do them, they may be obtained at a slower rate through just helping out with the forum. No idea as to what they can do, but that idea can be worked out.

- A Marketplace for said points: Again, I've seen this implemented on that same forum. People were able to trade points for little forum based goodies, and maybe other things. For example, one item that can be "bought" is a color change for one's name. This may apply to people that already have a colored name due to having a position on the forums. Another was a name glow. Now while there are more possibilities, those are the most basic ones, and again, I know they can be done.

Now another part about the marketplace is that it can also be a place to trade for little things. People could trade points for drawings, animations, etc. The possibilities are pretty expansive, we just need a system that allows us to work with them.

And before someone says something like "we won't have an admin or moderator active enough to do so," we have plenty. Jamal and I are on pretty often, and while I am attempting to get a job, the place closes at 10, so I can still do some cleanup.

EDIT: Okay, gonna post an edited version of the marketplace idea.

Two different types. One for profile changes (points are lost, not exchanged), and one for actual goodies (points are exchanged if not specified).

For profile changes, they can be name color changes or even custom titles (got to get some basic title templates for that).

For actual goodies, anyone can open a shop as long as they have something to offer AND it meets requirements. One could have a shop for sprites, art, animations, music, etc.

Just posting an edited version, nothing more.

I'd like to see Ty demoded. Er.. I mean.. I really like the market idea.. it seems like it would work. Also maybe something that could revive the forums could be a contest of some sort that was specific to the forums itself, like art contests, trivia contests, etc. And prizes would be won from that. Also maybe the contests could be in the form of teams or singles?

Maybe there could be a little change in Admins as in the ones who left the PHC and I don't mean quit hacking I mean like doesn't keep in Contact and stuff Just felt like saying that because some people we haven't heard from for over a year have Admin also that kinda doesn't really help but also we could maybe Advertise the Fourms and PHC on some other sites??

Since we are in need of a new banner, maybe a banner contest or something like that could work. We have quite a few artistic people in the community, both graphic team members and non-graphic team members, so that could work out.

For promotion, people can advertise the forums on their videos seems to be the best one. A lot of people want to hack but don't know how, so if they see their favorite hacker promote the forums, that could lead to an increase in activity as well.

As for the people with the red names, there are only two people I know that come to mind.

Austin is the only Admin who doesn't visit the forums, and Sakura is the only Super mod that doesn't get on at all (but that's because of life, so that could slide).

I'll try to talk to Jamal and Dako about these changes. I know they can be done, and I'll be more than happy to try and oversee these changes if someone is needed to do them, so we may be seeing these changes come in the future.

I usually don't go on the forums much and I found most of my time just goes towards "hacking" (or in other words, plugging sprites into vegas and scripts into advance map), so maybe that might make for a good incentive to get to work. I hope this isn't too disrespectful or out of the blue.

I see what you're getting at. However, the thing with that is is that not everyone on the forums hacks, and not everyone that hacks is on the forums.

Points are supposed to help people be more active on the forums, which will lead to people either hacking or helping out with that.

Heck, even the PHCBRs are supposed to help give people incentive to practice. Take spriting for example. You practice it and do well on PHCBRs with it, you won't need to rely on people as often and may even go to help people out with it.

I do see what you're saying, and I'll take it into consideration, but ATM, that seems like it won't work out insanely well.

Yeah, I became active today because I got an email that said my account was going to be deleted. Anyways, but on topic, I think there are a lot of inactive people who need inspiration to start posting/hacking. Maybe we should have another topic on what would inspire people to start posting/hacking again, though fall-spring is inactive season.

@Daniel: Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I know Pro got terminated, and he was... either a mod or a former mod.

We do need a more active staff, that much is a given.

@Ed: Funny that you mention inspiration because that was part of the reason why I brought PHCBRs to the community. They can help others practice and serve as a small thing to do to get the creative juices going. That, and they can be just for fun.

I wasn't very enthusiastic about deleting Pro's accounts on the forums, but he hadn't visited in over a year, sadly.

As for ideas about how to make the forums more active, we could discuss it more whenever you sign on MSN @ Ty.

Also there was people like Jacob and ect but they seem not to be Mods anymore

Unfortunately, Jacob stopped visiting the forums after a while (although he was never a frequent visitor to begin with), so he got stripped of his mod powers for inactivity (and his account was ultimately deleted as well). The same goes for Pro as well, albeit slightly more frequent.

Ty, Dako, and I have been discussing ideas for the forums and I think we've come up with a few that you guys will like.

We'll be thinking up of more in the meantime.
