https://phcommunity.forumotion.net/t86-hacker-community-power-rankings-brawl-updated-as-of-1-18-11
NOTE: This tournament is for people that are part of, or are friends with, the Hacker Community. POST IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ENTERING!
THE TOURNAMENT WILL BEGIN ON MARCH 12TH, AT 3 PM! The tourney will likely span a day or two.
Confirmed/Interested list:
Jamal
Poyo
Jacob
Ensane
Pro
Brandon
Denzel
Rei
Seth
Singles rules:
- Three stock.
- 8 minute timer.
- Double elimination bracket.
- Items are set to "off" and "none".
- All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for any "finals" matches).
- If a higher seed asks you to host, you will have to do so. If you have a question about who the higher seed is, please ask one of the TOs. There are only 5 properly seeded entrants, at the moment. Everyone else will have to decide with their opponents on who hosts.
- No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players. For instance, if P1 wins the first game on Smashville against P2, and P2 wins the next game, P1 CANNOT decide to counterpick Smashville for the 3rd game, unless agreed upon by both players. However, it is acceptable for P2 to counterpick Smashville for the second game.
- Meta Knight's Infinite/Extended Cape glitch is banned.
- If time runs out, the winner is determined by stock, and then by percentage.
- If both stock and percentage are identical, then a tiebreaker is played. A tiebreaker is a 1 stock, 3 minute match with the same characters and the same stage.
- If a game ends with Bowser or Ganondorf using a Sacrificial KO (with Flying Slam or Flame Choke respectively), as well as Kirby and King Dedede Swallowciding, and the game is tied, then any Sudden Death is ignored and the person who initiated the suicide move is declared the winner.
- There will be a 50 ledge grab limit rule. (Only takes effect if the game goes to time. If a person goes over 50 grabs, regardless of stock/percentage, the person who went over loses the game. If both people go over 50 ledge grabs, stock/percentage decides.)
- Stalling is banned. (Stalling is defined as any action that deliberately avoids all conflict as to make the game unplayable. Running from an opponent to get to a better position is not considered stalling, but using chain grabs infinitely against a wall beyond 300% or using Sonic's Neutral B repeatedly underneath the stage is.)
Set Format:
1. Both players choose their characters (as well as their sub-character and costume) for the first game.
2. Players start the stage-striking procedure in order to select the first stage. The first person person strikes a stage, the second person strikes two stages, and the first person strikes a stage. The remaining stage will be played on for the first game.
3. The winner of the first game bans one stage from either the neutral or counterpick list of stages.
4. The loser of the previous game chooses a stage from the starter or counterpick list. No player may choose a stage they have already won on unless the other player agrees.
5. The winner of the previous game announces what character they will be using.
6. The loser of the previous game chooses their character.
7. Steps 3-6 are repeated.
The first match of a game must be played on a Neutral Stage:
•Battlefield
•Final Destination
•Pokemon Stadium (Melee)
•Smashville
•Yoshi's Island
Counter Stages:
•Battleship Halberd
•Brinstar
•Castle Siege
•Delfino Plaza
•Frigate Orpheon
•Jungle Japes
•Pictochat
