The Nuzlocke Challenge

Well, since we are a Pokemon-Based community I figured that we should at least have a thread for the Nuzlocke Challenge. "What is the Nuzlocke Challenge?" you might ask. Well it's basically a way to make any Pokemon game more challenging, entertaining, and even emotional. The rules to this challenge are simple:

• Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released.
  

• The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances.
  

• Players must nickname all of their Pokémon, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds.

Also, no using Revives to revive dead pokemon. That's just wrong.

For those of you who want to make a Nuzlocke run more challenging, here is a flowchart with all of the different options you can incorporate into your challenge:

Well, as you (Seth) know, I started a Nuzlocke of my own.

I have grown to hate two things because of this Nuzlocke:
1) Herdiers.
2) Cowboys that deal with mining.

Lenora's Herdier almost ended my Nuzlocke completely, but she failed and didn't kill anything. Sadly, I lost Allie Katt the Liepard to a Herdier in Pinwheel Forest.

As for Clay... his Excadrill killed off Tweety the Tranquill and Victor the Krokorok. In hindsight, I could've made it so I lost neither of them...

But honestly, I got to say I'm glad I'm taking the challenge. I'm using Pokemon I never considered, and they haven't disappointed me yet. Hopefully, my Ducklett and Joltik can fill the void in my team that Clay's Excadrill caused. XD

I remember always seeing nuzlocke challenges on YouTube, and wondering what it was. Later on, i saw the thread on pokecommunity. I want to try it, but it seems hard. Plus, i don't want a team of a starter and 5 rattata's.

Plus, it's as Sarah said, impossible. XD There are Pokemon other than Rattata.

I never realized how good some pokemon are while using a nuzlocke.(Butterfree,ratta/raticatewachog,sentret,octillery,even bidoof xD).
Rattata/Raticate/Wachogs are monsters if you're up against them though. Hyper/super fang ;_;

I've been running a Nuzlocke on my Pokemon Platinum, IT IS MIGHTY HARD, and I felt like I should upload my casualty list so far for the fun of it.

Well, I was Nuzlocking Storm Silver, but my save file corrupted, so I had to restart it.

All I have is Riptyde the Totodile... the little guy is Mild natured... already better than my last Nuzlocke, I can say that much. XD

EDIT: Adding Sol the Mild Eevee to that list. What is with me and mild natured pokemon? >_>

Impossible Nuzlocke only possible for Ty. ONLY GET MILD POKEMON.

Also I started a nuzlocke not a while ago, on I think B/W ... Let's just say I restarted so many times looking for a Munna. And so soon after. Luna died. *Wah*

Also...NO **** I FOUND A PANSEAR IN THE WILD! Though I killed it... Wahhh!
Aqua - Panpour
HM SLAVE - Patrat
Puppy - Lilipup

Well, still working on Storm Silver. Doing a bit of level grinding, but here is my team ATM:

Skipper the Marshtomp (replaced Riptyde the Croconaw) Lv. 18
Sol the Flareon Lv. 18
Onion the Ivysaur Lv. 18
Donne the Bronzor Lv. 17
Parappa the Chatot Lv. 17
Kiara the Luxio Lv. 17

Level grinding before I deal with Slowpoke Well, but when I get to Bugsy, I'll most likely not use Kiara and/or Onion. Onion is part Grass and Kiara is part Dark, soo... yeah, dat typing. Considering some bugs are part Flying, Kiara might see some screen time, though.

Oh god...Now here comes the Team Plasma crap right after the Nacrene Gym. Wish me luck. . .
I think I'm going to lose a Snapper, and a Panpour. . .

Doesn't seem likely if you've trained hard and know what you're doing. Team Plasma are wimps.

Well, I beat Bugsy (surprisingly, with Onion of all things), but Donne wasn't so lucky. I did have the Mercy Rule just to test the waters, so it's still around, but... yeah, if Bugsy was a pain in the ass, I'm afraid of the scourge of all Gold Nuzlockes... Whitney's Miltank.

*sigh* That's true for the power-leveling Sarah. . . Though I'm using the once a place pokemon center rule. Good luck Ty, cuz no training is prepared for potions/roll-out combo.

Ty already beat Whitney without losing a single Pokemon.

Yup. Sadly, a battle with a Granbull is a different story... sucker killed Parappa and Donne. >_>

I did catch a Burmy in National Park... which ticked me off, because shortly afterwards, I found a Heracross, a Scyther, and then learned you can get Shaymin later on at National Park.

Moral of the story: Screw Burmy.

What about items?

So, yeah, because of a Granbull, I lost Parappa the Chatot and Donne the Bronzor.

Thanks to a Drifblim's Aftermath, I lost Kiara the Luxio.

Because of Morty's Haunter, I lost Venom the Ariados.

Because of Morty's Sableye, I lost Onion the Ivysaur.

Because of a Kingler, I lost Skipper the Marshtomp.

Yeah, my Nuzlocke took a sudden turn for the worst.

It's not all bad, though. Still have Sol, caught Shallot the Farfetch'd, and Natty the Venonat and Zach the Slowpoke are currently in the Day-Care where they will be abused until they level up they will hopefully catch up to Shallot and Sol, level wise.

Sarah the chart says. . . Err... Oh yea! It says either items or one pokemon center per town/city. So I screwed myself.

XD Oh, yea. Started a nuzlocke on Pokemon Light Platinum. One thing is said. The first trainer 4 pokemon level 10. Bugs...

Side note, training Lincoln the Lickilicky before going through Ice Path. He is severely underleveled compared to the rest of my team.

As for anyone wanting to know what my team is...

Sol is still around, Shallot, Natty, and Cam died, but Lupin the Lanturn, Stratus the Altaria, and Ryu the Lucario have taken their place... along with Lincoln. XD

EDIT: Beat the E4. Lanturn is a baws. That is all.

Nuzlocke Bump \o/.

Started a Fire Red Nuzlocke. Picked Charmander. Battled my Rival. Right when I was about to beat him... crit Tackle.

Restarted that shiz, kicked his arse, and I'm now at Vermillion. Only one death so far, and that was Neil, the Spearow that died in his very first battle because of a crit (see a pattern here?).

ATM, I've had some... meh luck, mainly because every wild pokémon I didn't catch was because of, you guessed it, a crit (seriously, you better see the pattern here by this point).

On the upside, I got myself a decent team.

Aidan the Charmeleon (Bashful): Level 26
Matilda the Gyarados (Hardy): Level 22
Caddis the Butterfree (Relaxed): Level 21
Amber the Pidgeotto (Naughty): Level 21
Rihana the Oddish (Hasty): Level 20
Kasey the Mankey (Calm): Level 20
Eve the Raticate (Calm): Level 20
Felix the Meowth (Sassy): Level 20
Melissa the Beedrill (Hardy): Level 20

I obviously have a thing for Normal and Flying types.
